Maine Residents Property Tax and Rent Refund Program

The 2006 Maine Residents Property Tax and Rent Refund Program is now accepting applications. The program provides refunds of up to $2,000 of property taxes or rent paid for qualified applicants.

You may qualify if:

• The 2006 household income for a single person with no dependents was $80,750 or less;
• The 2006 household income for a person with a spouse/dependents was $105,750 or less;
• The 2006 property tax you paid was more than 4% of your 2006 household income;
• The 2006 rent you paid was more than 20% of your 2006 household income.

Note: Low income applicants and seniors do not need to meet these reuirements to qualify. Check with the State of Maine's application booklet to find out more information regarding the refund program. Applications must be filed by June 2, 2008.
