Liquor licenses are issued by the Maine Bureau of Alcoholic Beverages. Applications may be obtained by calling the office in Augusta at 624-7220.
All new and renewal licenses must be approved by the city before being sent to Augusta.
New licenses may require a public hearing, notice of which must be given in a local newspaper for three (3) consecutive days prior to the hearing. The cost of this advertisement ($120.00) is to be paid for by the applicant. There is also a $15.00 application fee.
Renewal licenses may require a public hearing, notice of which must be given in a local newspaper for one (1) day prior to the hearing. The cost of the advertisement ($40.00) is to be paid for by the applicant. There is also a $15.00 application fee.
If a public hearing is required the license will need to be received by the City Clerk's Office at least 12 days prior to the hearing.
