The following Construction Codes are presently in effect with local amendments:

  • IBC 2003 (International Code Council) International Building Code.
  • International Residential Code, 2003
  • International Property Maintenance Code, 2003
    The above codes may be ordered through the ICC website.
  • NEC 2005 National Electrical Code (NFPA 70)
  • 2003 Life Safety Code (NFPA 101)
  • Standard for Chimneys, Fireplaces, Vents, and Solid Fuel-Burning Appliances (NFPA 211), latest edition
  • Standard for the Installation of Oil-Burning Equipment (NFPA 31)
    The above codes may be ordered through the National Fire Protection Association website.
  • Maine Subsurface Wastewater Disposal Rules 1996, as revised
  • Maine Internal Plumbing Rules
  • Coastal Construction Manual for all construction in Special Flood Hazard Zones
