Emergency Shelters
The City of Saco Office of Emergency has established formal Emergency Sheltering Agreements with the American Red Cross.
In the event of large scale emergency or disaster in the City of Saco and/or the surrounding region when evacuation or relocation may be deemed essential for the preservation of life one or more of the following shelter locations may be opened:
- Saco Community Center, 75 Franklin Street (primary evacuation center)
- Saco Middle School, 40 BuxtonRoad
- Burns School, 135 Middle Street
- Camp Ellis Fire Station, Bay View Rd and Ferry Road(Coastal evacuation check in site only)
- First Parish Congregational Church, Beach and Main Street
- St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 186 Bradley Street
- United Baptist Church, 318 Main Street
If it is determined that in the best interest of public safety that evacuation and relocation is needed, all effected persons will be notified by one or more of the following methods:
- Door to Door notification
- Reverse 911
- Emergency Alert System
- Radio
- Television
- Public Access Television
- Newspapers
