Community Emergency Response Team

The City of Saco Office of Emergency Management is seeking volunteers to serve on the community emergency response team. The next training session will begin in August.

Community Emergency Response Team candidates make a committment to receiving approximately 20 hours of intense training in CPR, first aid, disaster mitigation, preparedness, response and recovery. This training will allow the volunteer, upon sucessful completion, to handle disaster issues at home while awaiting emergency responders. It will also enable them to be called upon by the Office of Emergency Management to assist at emergency scenes in areas such as:

• traffic control
• minor fire suppression
• evacuation notification
• emergency personnel rehabilitation
• utility isolation
• sand bagging
• setting up barricades
