Juvenile Fire Setters Intervention Program
Since December of 1998 the Saco Fire Department and other York County fire and police agencies have been involved in the York County Juvenile Fire Setter Collaborative Intervention Program which runs on monthly donations.

The program works with juveniles from the ages of three (3) to thirteen (13) that have shown any interest towards fires or actually starting them. The goal is to protect our communities from the dangers of a juvenile fire setter through intervention, by collaborating with participating agencies to refer, assess and ultimately treat the juvenile fire setter, resulting in a reduction of deliberately set fires that threaten the public's safety and property.

Juveniles involved with the program attend a fire safety school which is taught by professionally trained teachers and firefighters. The city has put 21 juveniles through this program since joining.

If you feel you have a problem with a juvenile playing with fire feel free to call one of the agencies listed below.
