As of July 1, 2007 the City of Saco no longer has a contractual agreement with Maine Energy to handle the City's waste. The Odor protocol was a part of the larger agreement, meaning that the previous protocol no longer exists.

If you have an odor complaint, please report it to us by calling 284-4535. This telephone is answered 24 hours a day at the Police Department.

An officer will go to the location of the complaint and if he/she makes a determination that the odor originated at Maine Energy, we will call the plant to advise them of the complaint in an attempt to allow them to reduce or eliminate the odor.

If the odor does not seem to come from Maine Energy, we will attempt to locate the source and take appropriate action to address the complaint.
