National Police Week
In 1962, President John F. Kennedy designated May 15th as National Peace Officers’ Memorial Day, and the week containing May 15th as National Police Week. Congress amended this law in 1994, directing that flags on all government building be flown at half-staff.
All uniformed officers are directed to wearing a black mourning band on their badges during National Police Week in memory of the thousands of fellow law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice on society’s behalf.
Celebrating 35 years of service
Sgt. Ronald Rochefort celebrated 35 years of service with the Saco Police Department on March 15, 2008.
Sgt. David Loranger celebrates his 35 years of service with the Saco Police Department on May 18, 2008.
The police department offers congratulations to both Sgt. Ronald Rochefort and Sgt. David Loranger.

MERC ODOR COMPLAINTS
The Enviroline Operator (283-2003) is responsible for receiving all
complaints about odor from the MERC plant, filling out and Initial complaint Information Form, as well as notifying the Maine Energy Recovery Company (283-4261) and the Saco Police Department (284-4535) that a complaint condition exists.
