Main Street traffic is always busy, especially during the morning commute. Accidents can involve several vehicles, and injuries are common. Chuck was working on the dam one cold December day when he heard the early morning crash, and knew instinctively what had happened. Grabbing his first aid kit, he ran to the scene of a three-car collision. He immediately rendered first aid to one of the drivers, who was suffering from a severe nose bleed. The other driver, upset by the circumstances of the crash, seemed anxious to confront the injured person, and the situation was on the verge of escalating into something much worse. Chuck stayed between the two operators until police arrived, and kept things reasonably calm until uniformed officers took over. Chuck's timely intervention and assistance ensured that this minor accident was just that, and didn't evolve into an incident that all regretted. Sgt. Bruce Cote felt that Chuck's actions merited a Challenge Coin Award, and we agree. Great work, Chuck!
