On June 1st, 2009 Officer Mike Tremblay happened upon a bicycle accident involving two school children (Nick and James) on Beach Street. Mr. Spaulding, the Beach Street/ Middle Street crossing guard, was attempting to help the boys, one of whom was injured. Officer Tremblay called for the Saco Fire Department Rescue, who determined that the injuries were relatively minor. Unfortunately, James could not be released because his mother could not be located, necessitating a trip to the hospital alone for this young man. Carrie Lamothe, the Assistant Principal at nearby Burns School, came to the accident scene to assist. She volunteered to go to the hospital with James so that he would not have to face the ordeal without a familiar face to console him. We recognize that Carrie's compassion made James feel much more at ease, and we thank her for taking the time from the end of her busy, busy day make someone else's day better. Thanks, Carrie!
