On October 30, 2014 at approximately 5:53 AM Michelle Charleson, while walking her dog on Water Street, heard a person calling for help in the vicinity of the Elm Street bridge over the Saco River. Michelle heeded those calls, and notified the Saco Police Department. It’s a good thing she did. Upon the arrival of several officers, it was discovered that a 31 year old woman had fallen into the river, and those officers were able to rescue her.
In today’s day and age, many people would have kept on walking. Michelle, however, took the very first step in a process that ultimately resulted in the rescue of a person who may otherwise have drowned without her efforts. We recognize and applaud her efforts on behalf of her fellow citizens.
