Tom called the police department. Officer Tremblay confirmed the information, and learned that the Saco rescue had not taken anyone from the residence recently, leading to the possibility that Tom's neighbor could be inside and in need of medical assistance. After checking with a supervisor and summoning the fire department to the scene, the door was forced open.
Luckily, Tom's neighbor was merely away from the residence traveling for an extended period of time. The fact that no medical emergency existed did not lessen the care and compassion Tom showed by checking his neighbor and calling for assistance when it was apparent that something was amiss.
Officer Tremblay is proud to award a Challenge Coin to Tom for being concerned enough to go the extra mile to make sure his neighbor was not in need of assistance.
