On December 22, 2009 Jeremy W. was traveling on the Buxton Road when he witnessed a large sheet of ice fall from an 18-wheeler headed west. The ice flew from the trailer of the large truck and struck a vehicle headed inbound, causing extensive damage to the vehicle. After stopping to check on the vehicle's occupant to make sure they were okay, Jeremy quickly headed after the truck, which had continued west. Several miles later, Jeremy caught up to the truck at the intersection of Routes 202 and 112 in Buxton (Tory Hill). The driver was unaware that he had been involved in an accident, and agreed to wait at Tory Hill while Jeremy went back to the accident location to inform Officer Chris Hardiman of the 18-wheelerís location. Without Jeremy's quick thinking and his dogged pursuit of the inattentive truck driver, we would never have known the identity of the driver. Officer Hardiman expresses all of our gratitude by awarding Jeremy his Challenge Coin for his efforts.
