TEAM PROFILES Team Leader — Brenton Cashman: Born and bred across the East Coast he finally settled down for undergraduate studies at Mary Washington College in Fredericksburg VA. There he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in Graphic Design. Not finding what he was looking for in the corporate world, Brenton entered AmeriCorps to give back to America and work in the lovely outdoors.
Esa Cook: 20 years old from Houston TX. Youngest in the family, this second year Biology student is into trying new things as long as "they're responsible." She's an avid sports player enjoying most of all volleyball and tennis. Esa loves turtles, dogs, and the heavenly bodies above. Jess Hassman: 24, Hailing from the City of Roses— Portland, OR. A printer and painter "by choice but not trade," He also enjoys books of all kinds, but especially the old ones. Walking, biking, skateboarding, along with mass transit are his preferred modes of transportation. "I'm to analytical for my own good." Jaclyn Ingis: 20, from Columbus OH. Jaclyn is most happy in the outdoors, especially in the summer and in the woods or by the water. She is a self proclaimed "music junkie," particularly of live music. She loves lacrosse and big clumsy dogs. "Sleep is good, Go Bucks!" Jennifer Lary: An 18 year old graduate of an arts high school in San Diego, CA. She loves reading, dancing, and swimming. Jennifer plans to return home to continue college, studying everything especially cars, "and help spread the adventures and lessons she learned in Americorps*NCCC." Kim McDonald: 24 year old pixie princess from okeyhoma. Just graduated with a bachelor's degree in social work from Northeastern State University. Things that make Kim happy: being behind the wheel of a car, talking to the moon, petty ladybugs, Ben & Jerry's chocolate soymilk, blowing bubbles, flip—flops, and giggling. I love to drive in Manhattan, planning on attending graduate school to obtain a masters in social work and work in the HIV/AIDS field. "You've got your whole life to do something and that's not very long" —ani difranco Sarah Midler: a 22 year old graduate of the University of St. Thomas in St. Paul MN with a degree in Environmental Studies and Geography/GIS. A former ice hockey player, now she's content to watch the game. Sarah loves the fall, dogs (esp. Rottweilers and Alaskan Mali mutes) and jumping in piles of leaves. "It's true that you never know what you have until you have lost it. But it's also true that you never know what you're missing until it arrives." —Anonymous
Jessica Robinson: has been breathing air for 22 years. Aquarius. There is an adventurous spirit in this one. Currently holding a B.S. in Recreation Studies. The girl to call for climbing, biking, jumping, rolling, tumbling, stumbling, spinning, sailing, spelunking, sawing, swimming, hiking, hopping, chopping, digging, building, wiring, painting, knot tying talking, laughing, dreaming, helping, and learning. Phaedra M. Stefankis: 20, is from the "lush green land where the ocean crashes upon the mountains of good old Oregon." Phaedra's passions are being outside and by the water, the soul that's in all music and especially the soul that's in the dance that follows the music. She loves the smell of a fresh rain and the sound of laughter as the sun finally comes out. She finds a toss of the Frisbee to be as relaxing as curling up with a good book. "I stand strong in what I believe in and am always open to hear others opinions." Caroline A. Torres: 20, born in Manhattan, she grew up in Denver, CO. This young woman loves to travel having been in Mexico (twice!) and the British Isles. Someday hoping to travel the world in order to learn new languages, and embrace its cultures and children. Caroline is thrilled to be in Americorps learning new skills and spending a year with her team. Weston Ward: 24, El Paso, TX. May 2000 graduate of Texas Tech University with a B.S. in Biology/Ecology/Environmental Science. Member of T. Tech Lacrosse team. Weston began substitute teaching grades K—12 and working on this teaching certification after receiving his degree. In the future he plans to teach science but he's not quite sure what age group yet. In the meantime, he'd like to travel and try different vocations, He enjoys Frisbee, lacrosse and basically any outdoor activities. "My goal in life is to find a job I love to go to, someone to grow old with and live life having enjoyed every single minute." |
