Road Postings
During certain periods of year this department will post roads according to ordinance Section 186.57. This list will delineate the area that surrounds the city in the westerly end along with a few easterly sections. The lifting of spring time postings will be determined by weather and ground conditions.

CURRENT POSTINGS AS OF April 14, 2008
All postings have been lifted, with the exception of year-round postings.
The Public Works Department seasonally post roads to protect its public infrastructure from damages and pre-mature repairs and or improvements.

Visit this site on occasion for updates. Thank you for your support and understanding. The City of Saco has numerous streets that have year round weight limit postings. Because of inferior structural road capabilities and residential uses these roads will be posted to compliment such uses. Streets having weight limits are as follows:

*Garfield Street - 5 Tons
*Franklin Street - 5 Tons
*Rocky Hill Road - 10 Tons
*Scammon Street - 10 Tons
*Shadagee Road - 5 Tons
*Stackpole Creek Bridge/Simpson Rd - 3 Tons
*Tasker Street - 5 Tons

If you desire to use these streets in excess of the posted limits you must pick up a permit from Public Works. Depending on the severity of trucking activities roads may be rated prior and after heavy use. This rating will dictate the accelerated damages suffered at which time a fee will be assessed to bring the road condition rating to its prior numeric evaluation.

We thank you for your assistance in preserving Saco's roads and bridges.
