Trash disposal for seasonal rentals

Notice to property owners of seasonal rentals:

As of January 6, 2003, the City of Saco changed to an automated system for collecting trash and recycling. Now all household trash set out for collection must be placed in the designated City containers provided for this purpose.

Most homes already have been issued carts for year-round trash and recycling disposal. The City Council, realizing that many seasonal renters may be unfamiliar the City's recycling program, has come up with a system to help minimize the problems that might occur.

The seasonal system will utilize color-coded carts and stickers. Owners of seasonal rental property of six or fewer units will be able to purchase an additional trash container from the City. The one-time purchase price is $40 per 65-gallon cart. This cart will be different in appearance from the City's standard container. In order for it to be serviced, it must have a seasonal sticker placed prominently on its lid. The stickers will qualify you for trash collection during the months of May-October. The cost per seasonal sticker will be $40 for the 2003 season. The total cost in the first year will be $80. Since the cart will remain property of the landlord, each subsequent year it will only be necessary to purchase a renewal sticker.

The deadline for ordering is March 31. Please mail your request and payment in promptly so that we can place and receive our order as soon as possible.
