Leslie Rounds Named Director at Dyer Library/Saco Museum
Leslie Rounds of Arundel has been named the new executive/library director at the Dyer Library/Saco Museum. An Arundel resident, Rounds was assistant director/head of youth services at the Wells Public Library before starting in Saco on April 10. She was previously head of the children's department at the St. Mary's County Memorial Library in Maryland. She has a masters degree in library science from Southern Connecticut State University.
She is a member of the statewide Cream of the Crop Committee which reviews and selects the best recently published children's literature for distribution to libraries throughout the state. She lectures on 19th century textiles, clothing and photography, and has been inventorying the Wells-Ogunquit Historical Society's textiles collection.
Library work is a second career for Rounds, who is a nurse. She took a break from her pediatric nursing work to raise a family and then began work in the children's library field. Rounds says that she would like to increase children programming, heighten joint programs, and help make the library and museum campus a vacation destination.
Rounds replaces Don Sharland, executive director, who resigned recently after three and a half years, and Anastasia Weigle, library director, who resigned previously.
