Access Maps of the City of Saco
People are often curious as to the boundaries or assessment of their property. Others are researching [potential property purchases. The City of Saco has made it easier to find out this information through its Online Geographical Information System (WebGIS). Saco's WebGIS is intended to simplify the ability to view, analyze, manage, and distribute public information.

The City of Saco uses GIS to create and distribute data and also to generate and maintain data layers. For example, parcels, streets, and fire hydrant locations. GIS is used to combine these data layers with database information to create intelligent maps. Since many decisions about the environment, planning, safety, land use, general planning, and population relate geographically, many agencies have had a long interest in the development and implementation of GIS. The City's GIS program is centered in Public Works Department and its key goals are to maintain and provide high-quality spatial data to all city departments and the public, to offer mapping services to citizens through our online mapping application (WebGIS), and to provide data to venders for citywide projects. The Interactive Mapping site (WebGIS) enables users to search for parcels and display a multitude of related information and map layers, including elevation, zoning, floodplains, wetlands, and aerial photography. You can look up your own property, the zone in which your property is located, and also generate abutters' mailing lists and print or export these as mailing labels or an excel spreadsheet. The online application also allows three different ways to locate a parcel: Map-Lot-Sublot, Owner's Name, or Street Address.

Look for this icon on the right-hand side of the home page.
The following web address will take you directly to the Interactive Mapping site, http://eisweb.woodardcurran.com/saco/. Or, better yet, you may also access this site from the City of Saco homepage of http://www.sacomaine.org, just look for this image on the right side of the screen.

You can make your own maps or you can view and download a variety of maps that city staff has prepared for you in advance. The most notable of these maps available online are zoning and ward maps. The direct link to this site is http://www.sacomaine.org/archives/maps.shtml. All maps (with the exception of the link to WebGIS) are in Adobe Acrobat (PDF) format and may be viewed using the free Adobe Acrobat Reader software. More information about Acrobat Reader may be found at http://www.adobe.com/products/acrobat/.

The maps available online are also available to City staff. The City staff is now able to better assist residents by retrieving more information from one location. You may have already sat down in a City Hall office only to be shown a 2006 aerial photo of your property and complete tax or sewer information. The computerized data in the assessor's Vision database has been particularly useful to those buying or selling property, and to business people assisting in that process, such as brokers or appraisers.
