What's that crazy looking car on my construction site?
Mark Mitchell, Code Enforcement Officer & Energy Committee Member and the new ZENN. |
No, it's not a renegade golf cart that escaped from the corral of the Biddeford-Saco Country Club! That is the new Electric Car, known as the ZENN (Zero Emissions No Noise) the City recently purchased for in town use by Codes Enforcement. This little car has a battery range of 50 miles, takes about 4 hours to recharge and costs about .02 per mile to operate (yes, you read that correctly, 2 cents a mile). It plugs into a standard wall outlet and usually charges overnight. Although it can't go faster than 27 miles per hour, it can keep up with in town traffic and climbs hills like a champ. This car was purchased through the efforts of the Saco Energy Committee and City Councilor Eric Cote.
