What's new on the website?
Below you'll find a list of recent additions to the City of Saco website, as well as some timely favorites:
- Road paving bond videos
If you'd like more information about the upcoming citywide referendum on the road repair bond issue, check out the videos posted on the election page. Not only are they very informative, but they're entertaining!
- H1N1 updates
Saco's Office of Emergency Management has updated a list of helpful links regarding the H1N1 (Swine Flu) virus. This information is particularly timely given the current spread of the virus.
- Excise tax calculator
How much will it cost you to renew your auto registration? Try the new excise tax calculator on the finance department page. Enter the MSRP of your vehicle, its year and your plate type and you'll get an estimate of what it will cost.
- A winning season for Saco's ball teams
Saco's Senior Allstar Girls Softball and the 10-11-year-old boys Little League teams were victorious in their championships this year. Both were honored by the city council.
- City seeks grant to cleanup former Saco Steel site
Saco is applying for a federal Brownfields Grant to cleanup the site of the former Saco Steel operation on Lund Road. The proposed remediation will likely include the capping of soil, pavement, and concrete surfaces that are impacted with polychlorinated byphenyl compounds (PCBs) and the potential excavation, on-site consolidation, and capping of other potentially contaminated soils at the site.

- Repair & renovation course
If you are a landlord and you're thinking of doing some repairs on your building, you need to know how to handle lead paint issues safely. There's a course that can help you. For schedule information, follow the link above.
- It's election time
There will be a general election on Tuesday, Nov. 3. At the local level, we'll be voting on mayoral and council candidates, as well a local referendum question. There will also be some state questions that will need decisions. For information about polling places and times, voter registration and sample ballots, see the election page.
- Pay bills ONLINE, not INLINE
No one likes waiting in line, especially not to pay a bill. Don't forget, you can pay your city real estate and personal property tax bills online, as well as some utility bills. Just follow the link above.
