Summer begins at Camp Ellis pier
Another summer season is beginning at the Camp Ellis Parking Lot and Pier. There are a few items of interest which will be detailed below.

PARKING LOT
The lot will open for the 2007 season on Friday May 25th for the Memorial Day weekend. The lot will open on weekends only until Monday June 18th when regular daily begins. Hours of operation are 8AM-8PM daily.

Residents may obtain a permit for unlimited parking through from the City Clerk's office. The fee is still $10, there is no charge for residents 62 years of age or older.

There is a change in the residential parking permits this year. Permits may now be passed between vehicles within a household. This change was made to provide for residents with more than one vehicle an alternative to obtaining multiple permits.

Parking Fees for Non-Residents or others without permits will remain at $2/hr or a flat fee of $3 after 5PM.

PIER
The city will be replacing two of the hoists during the month of June. The hoists will have the same 1000lb lifting capacity but will be hydraulically operated. These are intended to provide the commercial users with a more reliable means of handling bait and other materials at the pier. The new hoists are partially funded through a grant from the Maine Department of Transportation Small Harbor Improvement Program.

Plans are in the works for another Shark Tournament. This is tentatively scheduled for Friday August 24th and Saturday August 25th. This is to benefit the United Way of York County. Weigh ins are 5-8 PM each day and open to the public.
