Taking Care of Business Online — Services available to citizens via the world wide web

There are many different ways you can take care of your business with the City of Saco and also the State of Maine -- via the mail, in person and online. As citizens report they are more and more comfortable with doing business online, we would like to invite you to explore the options for services you can conduct by way of Saco's website, www.sacomaine.org.

While Saco is now a "full service" agent for motor vehicle transactions for the State of Maine Bureau of Motor Vehicles here at City Hall, the opportunity to renew an existing registration online is by far one of our most popular internet services. In fact, use of this service has increased by over 300% since it was introduced! So why take time off work or out of your busy day to do this in person when you can complete a re-registration from the comfort of your home or office? You will need your prior or expiring registration (the "yellow" form you keep in your vehicle), the current proof of insurance for that vehicle, and a credit card for payment. Just click on "Register your car" under "Services" on the Saco home page — this will link you up to the Sate of Maine Rapid Renewal secure website and you are practically done!

Other state services you can conduct online include: the re-registration of your ATV or snowmobile; the renewal of an annual hunting or fishing license; and the renewal of a dog license. You can even connect to the State of Maine site for paying state issued traffic tickets! Again, you can link to these state services via the Saco home page under "Services" and see the specific requirements for each type of transaction.

Also at the Saco website, you will see the variety of city services you can conduct online — these include getting various forms you might need, such as for a business registration so you can apply to do business here in Saco. You can also pay city bills online using a credit card, or, better yet, an "e-check" with a flat fee for processing (provided by an outside service, not collected by the city) regardless of the bill amount!

There also is budget information, citizen opinion survey information, performance information, school information, and lots and lots of information, all published on the website and updated daily. So, get online and get out of line — and take advantage of the convenience of doing business on your schedule.
