Saco receives high marks for building code enforcement

International Organization for Standardization (ISO) has completed their analysis of the city's building code adoption and/or enforcement program improvements we have made since the initial letter received on April 20, 2012. As a result of our improvements, the Building Code Effectiveness Grading Schedule (BCEGS) Classification the ISO will implement for Saco is a Class 4 for 1&2 family residential property and a Class 4 for commercial and industrial property. The BCEGS classification will apply to new buildings receiving a Certificate of Occupancy during or after January 1 of the year 2012.
