The Economic Development Commission (EDC) supports the City of Saco's economic development, working closely with the Planning & Economic Development Department to encourage and promote business retention and expansion, commercial, industrial and business park development, and economic growth in Saco. In addition, the EDC makes recommendations that support development consistent with the Comprehensive Plan, City's historic character, quality of life and natural environment, and encourage and foster industrial, retail, office, agricultural, tourism, recreation, and downtown development. The EDC also reviews and recommends for City Council approval several incentive programs and resources for businesses. These include Tax Increment Financing (TIF), credit enhancement agreements and grants.
