Solid Waste Advisory Committee

The Saco Solid Waste Advisory Committee has the following purpose:

  • Reduce Solid Waste costs for the City
  • Increase Recycling rates
  • Recycling education & outreach
  • Reduce Recycling contamination
  • Review and update changes to curbside collection program
  • Recommend policy changes and updates to Council

SWAC is a group of resident volunteers whose goals are to reduce waste, increase recycling participation, and educate the public. The committee achieves its goals by serving as a resource and advocate to help residents, institutions, and visitors reduce their environmental impact, save money, and keep Saco beautiful.  The committee works directly with city officials to improve the solid waste and recycling programs in cost-effective and easy to implement ways. 

Commitment: Two year term, with approval by the Public Works Director.  Committee will meet Quarterly.
