Senior Tax Relief Program
The city of Saco is recruiting volunteers for the Senior Citizen Tax Workoff Program. Individuals must be 60 years of age prior to April 1st; must own their own home and reside at that property. Income limits for this program are $38,450 for one person households and $43,950 for two person households. The program will run from May 1, 2017 through April 30, 2018. Upon completion of 100 hours, participants will receive a credit of $750 towards their Saco property taxes.
Many exciting opportunities are available for seniors who wish to earn credit for their taxes. The openings currently available for volunteers are: Fire Department, Public Works Department, Tax Collector’s Office, School Department, various other clerical positions within city hall, the Saco Train Station, and the new Age Friendly Saco Program. There may be additional positions available soon. Training will be provided upon acceptance into the program.
We are also recruiting volunteers who do not qualify for the Tax Workoff Program but would like to volunteer.

The City's Volunteer Senior Tax Work-off Program is seeks to connect Senior Citizens with City Departments in order to assist the department with accomplishing tasks and providing an opportunity for citizens to earn tax abatement credits toward their property tax bill.
