Saco Fire Department in action

The Saco Fire Department was organized in 1834. The Saco Fire Department is a combination organization with 35 career firefighters and a call force of 42, operating out of three stations. Saco's Central Fire Station (built in 2010) houses all of the administrative offices, the training classroom, living quarters for the on duty career members, and all service areas for all equipment and apparatus. It houses three class A pumpers, one ladder, one brush truck, two rescues, two service vehicles and a rescue boat. Both the North Saco Station (built in 1974) and Camp Ellis Station (built in 1993) are fully staffed by on-call members and house a fully equipped Class A Pumper.
