Saco Police Department - Annual Citizen Police Academy
Due to the Governor’s Executive Order regarding COVID-19, we will be cancelling the Citizen Police Academy for 2020. Please check back with us at the start of the new year for news and updates.
The Saco Citizen Police Academy will be held on Wednesday evenings from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm for nine weeks, providing there are no weather related class postponements. Police officers, detectives, and other department staff will present trainings and hands on activities each week that will allow participants to see the day-to-day workings of the department.
At the academy, participants will learn the answers to the following questions: What does a school resource officer do? What is the Police Explorers Program? How is a crime scene processed? How do I protect myself from identity theft? This program also educates participants about conceal carry laws, mock trials, and the opiate outreach initiative. Graduates of this program will get to go on a ride along!
Everyone is welcome to apply, but preference will be given to Saco residents. Class size is limited to 25 students. As soon as applications are available, a link will open up for download, or they may be picked up at the Saco Police Department, 20 Storer St. Saco.
Anyone with questions regarding the Citizen Police Academy is welcome to contact Sgt. Scott Sicard by telephone at (207)282-8214 or via email email@example.com.
