Can I flush “flushable” wipes?
Our Water Resource Recovery Department would like to remind you that wipes belong in the trash, not the toilet.
Our sewer system and treatment plant were not designed to handle wipes, and these products labeled as "flushable" can clog pipes and pumps when flushed down the toilet. Many homeowners have experienced plumbing problems because of wipes, so you may have expensive maintenance issues at home if you flush them.
Unless it is toilet paper, it should not be flushed, even if a product says it is “flushable." Trust us, wipes can cause a lot of problems if they are flushed down the toilet. How should I dispose of cooking oil and grease?
